Cismontane Alkali Marsh

Background

Description and distribution  Description and distribution.This community is dominated by perennial, emergent, herbaceous monocots to 2 meters tall. Cover is often complete and dense. High evaporation and low input of fresh water render the marsh somewhat salty. About 321 acres occurs in the Dos Palmas area, where about 80% of it is on public or private conservation land. It is important habitat for the Yuma clapper rail and the black rail. Associated covered species. The species associated with this community are the Yuma clapper rail and the California black rail.
